大提琴家 Sam Matthews 在過去二十年間一直活躍於教學與指導領域。自 2005 年自 Peabody 音樂學院取得演奏碩士後，他前往中國上海，擔任多個機構與樂團的管弦樂指揮，包括上海美國學校、復旦大學國際學院、上海國際青年管弦樂團，以及上海 Promusica 室內樂團。在此期間，他不僅是中國各地備受歡迎的管弦樂指導，也活躍於多個專業樂團的演出。

2011 年，Matthews 搬至休士頓，並迅速成為當地知名的大提琴教師與樂團指導。他的許多學生成功入選 All-Region 與 All-State 管弦樂團。之後，他因管理Sam’s Strings 小提琴店以及照顧雙胞胎兒子的家庭責任，而短暫暫停私人課程教學。如今，他擔任 Paganini School of Music 與 Space City Suzuki Institute 的師資與主管。

Sam Matthews, cellist, has been an active teacher and clinician for the past 20 years. Following graduation with his master's in performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in 2005, Mr. Matthews worked in Shanghai, China, as an orchestra director for several institutions and ensembles including: the Shanghai American School, Fudan University's International School, Shanghai International Youth Orchestra, and the Shanghai Promusica Chamber Orchestra. During this time, he was sought after in China as an orchestral clinician as well as a performer in multiple professional ensembles.
